The Hawaii Ethics Commission is rerouting Ethics Complaints Against the Deputy Attorney General to the Hawaii Attorney General
Outraged and concerned citizens who watched the Elections Commission (EC) meeting on January 16th filed ethics complaints against the Deputy Attorney General, Reese Nakamura, because he is not only the attorney for the Office of Elections, but has been double dipping as advisor to the Elections Commission:
Nakamura was the defense attorney for Scott Nago, Chief Elections Officer, on all the elections cases filed in 2022. He is still the an attorney for the Office of Elections.
During the EC meeting Nakamura repeatedly shut down attempts by an Elections Commissioner to present election evidence that needs to be heard by the EC.
One of the job duties of the EC is to conduct investigations. They cannot determine if an investigation is warranted if they are not allowed to hear the evidence!
How can you initiate an investigation when the OE’s lawyer stops the EC from hearing testimony and evidence?
In typical Hawaii **#1 for corruption in the country** fashion, it has been revealed that the ethics complaints are being rerouted to Nakamura’s boss, the Hawaii Attorney General, Anne Lopez, for review. It is the Attorney General who appoints the Deputy Attorney General. She cannot be expected to objectively evaluate ethics complaints against her own appointee.
We need to keep the ethics complaints coming.
We need to expose this utterly corrupt system that silences the voice of the people.
We need transparency in our elections, and we need the Elections Commission to be able to do their job and investigate the issues we have with our elections.
