This Is Our Last Chance To Keep Hawaii Out of ERIC-Testimony Due by 4 pm Monday 4/1/2024
Karl Rhoad’s bill SB2240 requiring Hawaii to join ERIC, the Electronic Registration Information Center, is scheduled for a hearing in the House Finance Committee (FIN) on Tuesday, April 2 at 4 pm.
This is our last chance to stop this bill.
Please take a few minutes to log into your Capitol.Hawaii.gov account and OPPOSE this bill. If you’ve previously testified on SB2240 or the companion bill HB1609 it will be easy to copy/paste and make minor adjustments for the committee name, date, and bill number (if necessary).
If you are starting from scratch and don’t have much time, simply click the “oppose” and “written testimony only” buttons.
If you have the time, oral testimony is MUCH more powerful.
NINE states have recently terminated their contracts with ERIC. That’s a major red flag!
Here are the most compelling reasons Hawaii should not join ERIC:
ERIC does not make voter rolls more accurate-studies show it makes them worse; ERIC states have more duplications than non-member states
ERIC violates privacy laws regarding the sharing of people’s personal information
ERIC is dishonest about its purpose. ERIC’s focus is NOT list maintenance but to exploit states’ private data to identify and register ‘eligible but unregistered’ individuals. As Hawaii does not verify citizenship for voter registration, ERIC has the potential to facilitate the addition of noncitizens to Hawaii’s voter rolls
Even the Elections Commission opposes ERIC! During the February Hawaii Elections Commission meeting, a majority of the Commissioners voted to oppose Hawaii joining ERIC.

Hawaii is already ranked 51/51 for election integrity on the Heritage Foundation’s national scorecard. ERIC will cement us in this last place spot.

Let’s work together to keep SB2240 from passing.
Florida kicked ERIC out of our state in March of 2023 because it illegally gave away our PPI to NGOs. Parents of teen daughters were especially furious. It also horribly bloated our voter rolls instead of cleaning them as it boasted.
I looked up the 18 oldest voters in our Santa Rosa voter rolls and 11 of them were dead and all had been dead over 5 years. Was so disgusted I stopped at 18. How many more were dead on our voter rolls?
ERIC did do something well. They registered a lot of voters but you might want to make sure you find out if they actually verify voter's citizenship before they register them! I'm calling for an investigation here to make sure they were all citizens.
And we didn't get out of ERIC until our SOS got humiliated. Cord Byrd told our EI group on a zoom that we were keeping ERIC even though he was warned how dirty they were. He said Florida was keeping ERIC Because ERIC was the only way to remove the dead folks from out of state. To be clear, that would only be from the states that hired ERIC. Sweep the rest under the rug. Ignore it's happening.
Less than a week later, the SOS of Alabama made a drop in home visit to ERIC's home office in DC. What did he find? There was NO ERIC home office. Basically a rent by the hour computer store. ERIC LIed .
And Byrd had to wipe the EGG off his face and pulled Florida out of ERIC within about a week of saying he wasn't going to. Has he called for an investigation into the theft of our PPI? Has he called for an investigation to see if all the voters registered were citizens ? I sure haven't seen it happen! Did he demand our money back for bloating our voter rolls?
Sweeping it under the rug???

If you hire ERIC...you pay thousands and thousands of dollars to have your PPI stolen, your voter rolls bloated and potentially a bunch of non citizens registered to vote.
